Style Inspiration: Layered Look Idea

Recently I read somewhere where Jenna Lyons (creative director of J.Crew) was talking about layering clothes. She insisted on layering jackets and (I think) jackets and vests which gives your outfits a nice look. Me personally I love layering but, I don’t do it all the time because of my body type. I feel as though I have to watch what pieces I layer together because I can look ten times bigger than what I am…..which I don’t need. So for my outfit instead of just wearing a striped dress with bright colored stockings, I added flare with what I like to call my structured jacket and faux fur vest.

How I put my clothes Together

I live for fashion. My whole life revolves around it, growing up I loved to wear dresses and looking pretty. As
time went on, I have grown to love it and decided to turn it into a career. Pursuing fashion in school is a big dream of mine. These last past few weeks for me have been stressful, trying to send needed materials for acceptance by February 1st. Fashion Institute of Technology, one of the top fashion schools in America AND THE WORLD. If I’m so good at fashion why not go for one of the best schools for it???? Plus an old professor of mine use to say “why don’t you go to FIT?” And he would make this face and squint his eyes. The school is very selective so I am trying to make my portfolio and essay stand out so I can get in. I REALLY WANT TO GET INTO THIS SCHOOL, and let me tell you my last few years of school have been a pain. At 23 years old I am ready to finish and start a career….let’s hope and pray I get into FIT. Moving forward on my outfit of the day, I have been looking for a nice striped button up to throw into an outfit. At Old Navy I found one on sale for like $8 and it is a nice blue and white striped, which to me is classic. I love a good plaid, striped, gingham, polka dot or any print button up in that matter. It gives a twist on a good basic.

People ask me alot how I put my clothes together…it is kind of hard to explain. You just have to have that eye for things like this. If I put an outfit together and theres multiple prints and colors, something about it will look right and pulled together. I don’t know all colors look good together. Depending on the colors and scale of a pattern, different patterns look well together also. See tan, black, gold and white in this outfit are colors that are like your “base” or basic colors. Now to add colors in it, my blue white stripe shirt with a tan blazer…they go great together. Top it off with a red print scarf. Red, blue, and tan look lovely together but the neutral tannish color in the scarf goes well with the blazer as well. Black in the scarf and black leggings then my earrings are gold and I throw in my gold loafers. Does that make sense? I just hope anyone who wants to dress like this got a hint on what I was trying to say. To be honest it you think a outfit looks right and so does someone else then your good!

Blogs 2 Year Anniversary

So just a week or two ago I realized I have been doing this blog thing for two years!!! Time has definitely flew!!! I am so happy to have stuck to something that is enjoyable and my passion. My whole life people told me I dress really well and I always had a deep love for fashion. I wanted to show others that! I thank you guys, my followers, for keeping me going and staying up on my blog. As you and I noticed my fashion gets better with time! I would like to show what I think were my best outfits from over the past two years.

Of course there will be more of my personal fashion to come. : )

Faux Fur Top

I like that faux fur doesn’t just come in vest and jackets…it comes in tops too!!! I immediately fell in love when I seen this in the store (but what don’t I fall in love with), imaging all of the outfits to wear it with. Oh and the cold weather???? Don’t have to worry about freezing my stomach and my ladies off because it is super warm. LIKE REALLY WARM. It is pretty thick and comfortable. I also thought this was a good basic type of top since it can go with alot, to minimalist this might be a good pick for you (Especially the white version of this). I had wore this top on new years with the same necklace, jeans, and some glittery heels.

Here is a close up on my make-up and necklace. Sometimes I like to show what is on my face:

Too face highlighter
MAC lipstick in Icon
Eyebrows estee lauder pencil

Green, Yellow, Leopard and Faux Fur

I still love to colorblock, even though it was a big trend a couple years back I still love to do it. Sometimes I like to throw a print in with the colorblocking because I’d rather wear print than plain items…which is a problem I’ve had and had to get out of because you do need basics. So the leopard shoes come into play adding some girliness with the bows and the faux fur adding glamour. Toppes off with my new favorite necklace I’ve been wearing for days.

How to Look Decent on a Rainy Day

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! I didn’t do to much for this year so I didn’t post anything for the new year. Anyways, I hate when it rains or when it is damp outside…those days I really do not like dressing up for. I always felt the wetness would ruin a nice outfit or shoes. My warm and comfortable combat boots come in handy for nice footwear that I can wear on a day like this. I am actually looking for a chic pair of rain boots, who says you can’t dress those up too?
